Distant Reiki Healing for You

Distant Reiki Healing

I made a quick little home-made video to send Reiki energy healing for anyone who would like to receive. It can be played anytime you feel you need a few minutes of deep relaxation and energy infusion. I’d love to know what you experience.

Gratitude for 7 Years of Oneness Blessing Circles in Tucson

I am delighted to be moving to Makawao, on Maui in just a few short weeks, on March 1, so I had our last Oneness Blessing Circle in our home in Tucson, Arizona 2 nights ago.  It was filled with love, gratitude, tears, joy, laughter, sweet friendships and connections, and so many blessings… the same as every other Weekly Wednesday Oneness Circle has been for nearly 7 years!  There are wonderful memories to carry us forward, and the divine grace of the Oneness Blessing will stay with each of us, no matter where we are. I am forever blessed and grateful for this community.

Oneness Blessing Givers,

Long-time Oneness Blessing Givers: Carla, Lucia, Breeze, Cindy, Angel and Walid

Here are some long-time Deeksha Givers who have all brought so much to this circle (Kat and Jon Michael were missing from the photo, and as dedicated Oneness Trainers have each done so much as well) – there are so many more of you, and I thank you all!  Notice the purple light/orb right above our heads!

Fortunately, there are several options to continue to receive Deeksha in Tucson: If you’d like to be updated about other Oneness Events in Tucson, please join the Facebook Group Oneness Tucson for the most accurate and current updates.  You can also join this Meetup: Awaken Tucson Into Oneness   and you can email Kat Reinhardt (also currently in India!) to be put on the email list to receive updates about Tucson Oneness Events!

If you are on Maui, I will be coordinating with others who offer the Oneness Blessing on Maui and plan to offer a weekly circle in our home there, starting mid-March! I look forward to meeting you there. Please sign up for my newsletter for the day, time and address.

I will be expanding my hours available for Distant Reiki Transformational Healing Sessions once I’m on Maui, beginning the first week of March!  I’ll be offering a special rate for anyone who books a Distant Healing session for the first time and will continue to offer my monthly Free Distant Healing sessions by phone every 3rd Tuesday. The next one is Feb. 18!

Zelie and I will be offering more Spiritual Retreats in Hawaii, and will be sending out an update soon but we do have spaces available for our May and August dates – please let us know asap if you are interested in either of those, or our June 7/8 Seattle workshop. Thank you!

A hui hou – until we meet again…

NPR Interview – “Voices for the Cure”

A quick note:  I was interviewed for our local NPR station about losing my daughter Elizabeth Blue, and our journey with cancer and death.  It airs today, January 10 at 6pm, Arizona time, and tomorrow, January 11 at 5pm.  If you’re in Tucson, Arizona, you can listen live at 89.1, or stream it here wherever you are: NPR: Arizona Public Media

Elizabeth would have been turning 24 this Sunday – it feels like an appropriate honoring of her to be able to share this now…
If you can’t tune in live, it will be posted on their website, and I”ll share that later.

Tips to Start a Successful Healing Practice

Several of my students and clients have asked for some practical tips to start their own healing practice, as Reiki pracitioners, massage therapists, life coaches, and other forms of the healing arts.  These are some practical strategies I have used to create a successful Energy Healing Practice, that I am sharing in the hope they can help you as well!

I always recommend starting where you are – meaning while you still have your day job(s), begin your healing work. Don’t wait for every single thing to line up and be “perfect”, because that may never happen!

Create a space you want to work in, either at home or you can rent a space just a day or two a week, etc… but if you can do it from home, I’d recommend that.  You could start by traveling to the clients, bringing your own table.  It adds quite a bit of driving time, and you have to deal with their environment, but if that works for you, that can be fine too.  If it’s from your home, create a space that you love, that feels safe, relaxing, peaceful and healing.  It could be in your living room or an extra bedroom – be creative.  It can be a space that has multiple uses, initially, as long as you can easily make it feel like a calm and safe environment when you have a client coming.

Next, start putting it out there that you are taking clients – maybe working with friends and family first, going to Reiki shares, etc.  You’ll need to make a business card that says (in words) and shows (images) the feeling of who you are and what you want to project and who you want to attract.  You can keep it simple and use a template from Vista Print or similar, and you don’t have to make it a huge project – just tune in to your vision, and ask your guides if you need help with the wording or image.  If you have the funds, you can also hire a graphic designer to create the look and feel you want. I have the names of people I can recommend.

When you are ready, you’ll also need a website, and again, it can be simple.  You can create one yourself, through WordPress or similar, or if you’re not at all tech savvy, hire someone to create one, and it can be just 2 or 3 pages to start, creating a presence of who you are, what you offer, what your skills are and relevant training, including any educational background, etc.  Find sites that you like, take note of what you don’t like as well, tune into sites that draw you in and are more than just attractive, but would actually make you feel you can trust that person and want to work with her/him.  Then incorporate what you like, using your own unique expression of who you are and what you can offer to another.

Advertising is important at some point, letting people know you exist and the universe know you are ready….In Tucson, Natural Awakenings is the main source of healers and spiritual type of resources, but you could focus on another audience such as an upscale one in another publication, and seek out other resources in your community as well.

You don’t need to do all these at once, and maybe you won’t even need a website or ads. Take your time and allow for this to evolve naturally, without forcing, but also with taking some action.  It is a balancing act of allowing, and inviting… Some people do well with just word of mouth, but most of us need more. gratitude, love

Last, but very important, is prayer/intention/petitioning to your guides, the divine, the universe… I ask that I be in service in the ways that will serve the divine, my clients and students, and my own soul as well, with grace and ease.  I ask that I work with clients who will be able to receive, acknowledge and appreciate the gifts that I have to offer, and who are ready and willing to do their own work, and to heal and transform.  I ask for clients/students who can easily afford my services.  I ask to be in the greatest service possible, to be the clearest possible channel for the divine teachings, healing and guidance that can come through me…  You’ll find your own way of asking.   I do sometimes forget, and notice that I’m seeing fewer clients, or that I’m drawing clients who are not a great fit, (though that hasn’t happened for quite a while) and it’s a reminder to get clear about what I want and need, and ask for it.  It’s important to me to be clear, while also allowing for even greater possibilities.

All you really need is the confidence and trust and you will soar.  I am in total support and am so excited to see and hear about your blossoming!

Out of the Blue

{This is a post from my new blogsite. See Luminous Blue if you’d like to read more of my experiences from this past year’s journey with my daughter, interwoven with Elizabeth’s memoir and poetry.}

On Friday, November 4, 2011, my world completely changed. My older daughter Elizabeth, 21 at that time, called me as I was finishing a qi gong class at home.  She was in tears, having trouble breathing and said something was wrong, she was in so much pain she was headed to the Student Health Center again.  I knew it was serious, as this girl doesn’t cry, and has a very high pain threshold. I immediately said I’d meet her there, jumped in the car and tried to center and calm myself as I drove.  As I walked in to find her, the kind doctor was telling her to go to the ER at UMC.  We asked if she could go home, drop off her car and pick up a few things, and he said yes, but not to delay.  He also called ahead and made sure she knew to tell them she was having chest pain, so she’d be seen quickly.  Apparently he had a very good idea that she had mediastinal non-Hodgkins lymphoma from looking at her, as her face and neck were quite swollen, and that a large tumor wrapped around a vein was causing the swelling. She’d been having pain in her right upper chest for weeks that another doctor had been dismissing as allergies, and treating her with prednisone.

We didn’t learn the exact diagnosis until after her biopsy on Monday. However within hours of arriving at the ER, her chest x-ray showed us a large mass in her chest, about the size of her heart, just to the right of it. It was shocking to see. Elizabeth was healthy – she’d rarely been sick, had been treated with homeopathic remedies most of her childhood, ate organic whole foods, was a vegetarian since age 14 and had been a dedicated yoga student much of her life. How could she have a mass the size of her fist in her chest? How could she have cancer?!

Our dear friend Ann Marie, Elizabeth’s doctor, came to sit with us as we waited hours for her be admitted.  I walked outside with her at some point, and started sobbing on her shoulder, “no, no, no, no, no….!” I was worried about all kinds of things, from the cost of the yet unknown treatment and her limited insurance cap, to her being able to complete her semester as a junior at the U of A, to how she would cope emotionally with the diagnosis of cancer, but I did NOT think she would die. That was not in my world of possibilities yet. I couldn’t even imagine my world without Elizabeth.

We were moved very slowly and gently into that reality, and for that I am deeply grateful. For the eleven months we had after this day, nine of them believing and trusting that she would have a full recovery and live a long, healthy life, and the last two months knowing she would die, I am grateful. Every moment was a blessing. She and I did a lifetime of healing in that time, she lived fully and richly, and in the end, she became love itself, showering us all with love, and in a state of grace that I’m blessed to have experienced in this lifetime.

Transitions and Acceptance

Dear Ones,
My older daughter, Elizabeth Blue, made her transition September 23, after a year long journey with cancer, and she did so while being showered with love and in a radiant state of grace. It is heartbreaking and we are finding moments of joy in this time of grieving.

Lucia Maya with Elizabeth Blue

Elizabeth Blue and Lucia Maya

It feels overwhelmingly sad, and when I’m present in each moment I come to a place of peace and acceptance of what is. We are truly blessed to have had this time of graceful passage with her, and for so many of our family and friends to be close by. It does feel like she is at peace, making her way in the realms of those who have recently left this earthly plain.

I will not be scheduling individual clients or classes for the time being.  I have been on hiatus while caring for my daughter, and am now taking some time for my own healing, being with friends and family, and doing some travel.  I have been writing and will be creating a new blog that will incorporate my process over the last year with my daughter, and Elizabeth Blue’s writing as well.

I will begin seeing clients again in November, starting on a part-time basis.

If you are interested in attending our Hawaii retreat, the dates are set for December 6 to 11, and promises to be a deep journey into the Hawaiian healing energies.

I send you all a radiance of love and wish for you a showering of divine grace at this time of collective and personal growth.

blessings and love,

Lucia

Essence of Reiki

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of giving a Reiki session to a wonderful 7 year old boy.  He’d not heard of Reiki before, though he was very open to receiving it.  As I was talking to him, I was asking for guidance for the best way to explain to a child the essence of Reiki, and what came through clearly is: “I am bringing God’s love through me, to you.” That is truly at the heart of how I see and feel Reiki and what I offer.  He seemed to understand that.

After about 2 minutes of some wiggling on my table, this very active and animated 7 year old feel deeply asleep, and stayed completely out for the next half hour, while he received this healing gift.  It was so wonderful that his mother thought to bring him, as he’d had the recent trauma of losing his beloved grandfather to an unexpected and violent death.  Receiving the a Reiki treatment so soon after this sad experience will serve him well, as he will be able to experience and express his grief, but not hold on to it and allow it to create trauma in his body, as we often do.

I love being able to offer this healing modality!  Let me know if you are interested in trying a session!

Smoothie Recipe, updated!

Every morning for over 2 years now, Zelie and I have started our day with a delicious smoothie that gives us an amazingly nutritious way to start our day.  I know that no matter what else I eat that day, I’ve already received a huge amount of raw greens, fresh fruit and superfoods!  I feel energized, satisfied and well nourished as I begin my day. Our recipe continues to evolve, as we learn more and our tastes change, so here’s the latest incarnation:

Place in a good blender (ideally VitaMix or Blendtec, but don’t let it stop you if you don’t have one of them, just add ingredients slowly and blend til it’s really smooth):

2 cups unsweetened almond milk or “coconut milk drink” (from Trader Joe’s)
Add Superfood Powders:
4 tablespoons raw organic hemp protein powder (great for Omega’s and lots of fiber)
1-2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon spirulina powder (can be very energizing!)
1 teaspoon chlorella powder (cracked cell wall – and best to start with very small amounts of this, as it really pulls toxins from the body, so start with a pinch and work your way up)
1 teaspoon Maca powder (gelatinized has better nutritional qualities)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for flavor and also for blood sugar lowering qualities)

~ 1/2 – 1cup frozen fruit: blueberries, strawberries, mango, raspberries – adjust to your taste
~ 2 – 3 cups (couple of big handfuls) raw greens: kale, collards, chard, spinach, etc… mostly you don’t taste them once blended! can be one or several types.
~ cut up carrots, and/or beets, red cabbage – bringing more color and nutrients to the mix!
1 or 2 pieces of fresh fruit: apple or pear (cut into eighths) for less sweet, or 1 banana if you like it really sweet.  If you like citrus, add an orange (Clementine is my favorite) or some lemon, cut up, with the peel

Heart-Centered Energy Healing

Heart-Centered Energy Healing

heart centered meditation

My daily practice for over ten years is heart-centering.  I use this as a daily ritual, which helps me to center and open, connecting with the Divine, with my inner guidance and with the heart center – where all is welcome, where the energy of the upper and lower chakras meet and there is no judgment.  I also use it when I’m in a situation where I feel off-balance, or fearful,  or where my ego/emotional self is in control, in a way that is not serving me. It always brings me back to the heart center, to a place of calm, compassionate, grace.

I love this practice because it is simple, anyone can do it, and it is very powerful and effective.

Begin by placing your right hand over your heart chakra and place your left hand over your right, with your thumbs meeting above.  See and feel your crown chakra open, at the top of your head, connecting with the divine energies of the sky, the heavens, the cosmos, the masculine…and now see and feel your root chakra open, at the base of your spine, connecting with the divine energies of the earth, the feminine/nurturing aspects.  Bring these divine energies up from the earth and down from the heavens into your body, meeting at the heart and then flowing down your arms and out your hands.  It then flows back into your heart in a beautiful circle…You can also visualize this energy flowing out your hands to others around the world, or place your hands on another person’s body to send them this healing energy.

The mantra to focus on while doing this are the four qualities of the heart center, as taught to me, and countless others by Dr. Brugh Joy:  Supernal Compassion, Innate Harmony, Healing Presence, Unconditional Love and Selfless Service.  Simply repeating these words, contemplating their truth, and bringing their essence into your being will change your experience of life.

presence and awareness

this is from Kip Mazuy from New Zealand…..he writes on presence and awareness.

I find it very helpful, as this process is not always an easy one, or all joyful… but if you are reading this, you are on your soul’s journey, and even if we wanted to, once we become more conscious, we can’t stop! So these words of wisdom have been soothing to my soul. enjoy.

“It is often said
that if you are present
then you are blissful.

But that is not the full truth.

If you are present
yes, most likely at first
there will be bliss,
there will be peace.

But if you remain present,
if you remain surrendered to
this moment and aware,
then awareness expands,
the Shakti expands.

It starts to push out
everything that is incongruent
with bliss.

It widens your energy channels
so that even more energy
can move through.

And the experience
cannot really be called bliss.

It is excruciating.

Not in a sense of pain
but intensity.

The ego wants it to stop
because it is pushing your awareness
beyond the boundaries of ego,
beyond what is comfortable.

And so the conflict between the ego
and the shakti creates intensity.

Like trying to stick your head
out of the window of a jet
going the speed of sound.

Many people learn
that if they surrender a little,
then they get blissful
and then they can contract back into ego.

A little expansion
a little contraction.

Nothing wrong with this.

But the longer you can
remain in the expansion,
the more expansion increases.

And this expansion
burns away the separateness.

Burns away
that which separates you
from unconditional peace and bliss.

The action of identification,
the core stress of
‘me’ and ‘mine’
that separates you from life
gets burned away in this shakti
until you realize
that this fiery consciousness
is what you are.

And that is freedom.

I say this because many people
reach a certain intensity of awareness
and then back off.

Because they heard a teacher
say that if they are present
they will be blissful.

And so they were present
but instead of bliss
there was this intensity
so they think something must be wrong.

But there is nothing wrong.
That is the process.

What is happening
here and now
is exactly as it is supposed to be.

Being present
does not guarantee
a certain experience.

But it is the doorway
to unconditional peace and bliss.
And you feel that opening immediately.

Blessings,

Kip”
