"Kainehe", named by Zelie's great grandmother, calls forth the unique sound the ocean makes where the water meets this extraordinary piece of land. This artful, beach front, two bedroom, two bath vacation rental is on the East end of Moloka'i, in the desirable Puko'o area. This fully furnished family home can sleep four comfortably, with one king bed, one double, and one pune'e (daybed) in the living room. There are open beam ceilings throughout, wood and tile floors, and comfortable furnishings. The ocean is just steps away from the spacious lanai and open, airy living/dining room and full kitchen. From every room there are gorgeous views of either the ocean and Maui beyond, or the mountains of Moloka'i.
This is a special, old Hawaiian style family home, recently updated for comfort, without changing the original charm. There are wood floors, koa wood furniture, and comfortable places to sit and watch the ocean from almost every room. The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher, gas stove, and plenty of pots, pans, glasses, utensils, and original handmade ceramics. This home is beautifully decorated with artwork, and has an extensive CD collection for your enjoyment.
Located on a private, lushly planted acre of land, with hibiscus and mango trees, the house is set back from the road, with the only sounds the birds and the gentle waves of the ocean. The water is calm and shallow, making it easy to swim, snorkle, or just watch the ever-changing view of the ocean and Maui from this special beachfront Moloka'i vacation home.
Time here slows down leaving you to discover your soul's natural rhythm in the true essence of Hawaii.
Moloka'i is a place to come and get away from the busyness of the rest of the world... however, there are many things you can do here: swim, snorkel, scuba dive, surf, windsurf, fish, hike the mountains and see incredible waterfalls, take a mule ride to visit Kalaupapa down a spectacular sea cliff trail, visit the coffee plantation or the macadamia nut farm, watch for whales, shop at the local crafts market
in Kaunakakai on Saturday mornings, get a massage, take a nap, watch the ocean from the lanai...Enjoy!
"Our stay at Kainehe was WONDERFUL. Such a nice, neat, open, airy home. The views were great, the beds were extremely comfortable, and most of the conveniences of home. We spent hours on the lanai...just enjoying our surroundings. Thanks so much for providing the new Weber grill. We cooked most of our meals on it, simplifying our dining significantly...All in all a wonderful experience - thank you! You're so fortunate to have such a peacful place to be able to go to." --David and Tanya Gold
"Thank you SO much for renting your home out to me this past week. I had an extraordinary, healing time on Moloka'i and there were days where I never left the house once as it was so peaceful there. I hope to visit again soon! Peace!" --Scott Lowell
"Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at Kainehe. We knew we'd have a good time on in Molokai but our time there was all the more enjoyable with Kainehe as our base. In fact, there were a couple of days when we scarcely went beyond the yard or the beach because your home and its surroundings were all we needed." --Ursula Wallis
"The Cuaresma's had an awesome time! The house was beautiful and so welcoming. Anyway, we definitely enjoyed our stay and do hope you can accommodate us again when we can find the time to come back!" --Mahalo nui loa, Nona Cuaresma
